The Aar-Aartyk Student Folk Dance Ensemble is a vibrant world where dance culture becomes a tool for personality formation. Within the walls of the university, he reveals the creative potential of students, develops their abilities and helps them grow personally.

The dance ensemble was founded in 2003 on the initiative of A.G. Lukina and the leadership of the Institute. The dance ensemble, thanks to the support of Rector Sargylana Semenovna Ignatieva, has become the hallmark of the Arctic State Institute of Culture and Arts. The repertoire includes samples of the dance folklore heritage of the indigenous peoples of the Arctic.
The purpose of the dance ensemble is to preserve the distinctive dance heritage of the indigenous peoples of the Arctic, introduce students to the cultural heritage of the peoples of the North, stimulate and develop students' creative abilities, and familiarize foreign countries with the unique dance and song culture of the northern peoples.
The ensemble is a multiple winner of International Folklore Festivals in Europe and Russia, and actively participates in large-scale cultural events at the national and Russian levels. The ensemble is a regular participant in International Sports Games "Children of Asia"; (2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016 years), participant of the National Holiday of Ysyakh in the area of Us - Khatyn, participant of the national holiday of Ysyakh Olonkho, where more than two hundred thousand spectators, guests and participants participate annually. The dance ensemble systematically shows charity concerts for the disabled, sick children, and children's rehabilitation centers in the republic. The leaders and members of the ensemble constantly attract speakers and connoisseurs of folklore of the peoples of the North.
The ensemble has created a joint creative laboratory of the Department of Folk Art Culture and the National Dance Theater of the RS (Ya) named after S.A. Zverev-Kyyl Uola.
The ensemble's repertoire includes more than thirty dances of the peoples of the North. It features the dances of indigenous minorities living in the North-East of Siberia, Kamchatka, and Chukotka - Yakuts, Dolgans, Evens, Evenks, Yukaghirs, Chukchi, Koryaks, Itelmen, and others.
The dances in the ensemble's repertoire are based on traditional subjects and folklore. Some of the dances have experienced the author's stage interpretation. These are original versions of traditional dances. The dance plots are based on traditional motifs related to the way of life of the people, their worldviews, religious beliefs, customs, rituals. In general, the entire repertoire of the dance ensemble consists of traditional dances in terms of content, form, vocabulary, and costumes.
