The Orchestra of Russian Folk Instruments AGIKI is a professional youth group, the hallmark of the Arctic State Institute of Culture and Arts. The orchestra consists of aspiring musicians and professionals who represent the national instrumental art at a high professional level in the Republic of Sakha and the Far East.
Over the years, under the direction of artistic director and conductor Nikolai Pikutsky, the orchestra has twice won the title of Laureate of International competitions among professional orchestras, has made numerous recordings of concerts on the National Broadcasting Company Sakha, and CDs have been released. The orchestra's repertoire is rich in works by Yakut, Russian, and foreign composers, with more than three hundred works in total. The team participates in significant events in the city of Yakutsk, the Republic of Sakha.
In terms of instrumental composition, the AGICA Orchestra is similar to the main orchestra of folk instruments of the Russian Federation, the National Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments of Russia named after N.P. Osipova". The orchestra consists of Russian folk instruments: domra group - domra piccollo, domra prima, domra alto, domra bass, domra mezzo-soprano; accordion - concert multi-timbral "Jupiter"; balalaika group of performers: balalaika prima, balalaika secunda, balalaika alto, double basses; percussion instruments - timpani, bells, marimba, xylophone, colorful noise percussion instruments; woodwind instruments: flutes, oboes; psaltery, keyboards. The specific sound and technical perfection of folk instruments make it possible to perform masterpieces of world classical music, the best examples of modern popular music. The introduction of traditional musical instruments of different nations into the instrumental composition of such a group for the performance of works by composers from all over the world is not excluded
