The Department of Painting and Graphics aimed to develop the Institute's common concept of educating young artists based on the high traditions of the academic school. The main goal is the formation of a harmonious, creative, socially active personality capable of successfully functioning in conditions of constant change. To gain the opportunity to join the world of the highest and enduring universal human values, which are embodied in the great works of world artistic culture; to accept as one's own the spiritual and cultural history of mankind, with all the responsibility that such an experience brings with it. Combining the methods of the European art school with the spiritual richness of folk art, art education provides a purposeful, organized process of immersion in the flow of world culture, giving a sense of deep personal connections with the development of humanity, with the past, present and future development of its people, the preservation and development of the centuries-old culture of the peoples of the Arctic.
The Department of Painting and Graphics is not only a creative workshop, but also a representative creative platform and laboratory; staff members actively participate in key expert art discussions, are members of the Union of Artists of Russia, and are opinion leaders on the most important issues in the field of art education in Yakutia. Young artists come to us with a creative mindset, with faith in themselves and their ability to change the world for the better.
In 2022 the Arctic Institute of Culture and Arts received a grant for the special track of the State program “Priority 2030. The Far East” aimed on forming a pool of leading universities for creating new scientific knowledge, technologies and inventions for Russian social and economic development.
