The Arctic State Institute of Culture and Arts began its activities in 2000, in parallel with the existence of a branch of the Ural Conservatory. The first issue of AGICA took place in 2005. And was it possible to foresee that since the establishment of the branch, teaching on folk instruments would take on such a scale? For the past twenty years, talented young musicians have been receiving education at our institute. All students of our department are distinguished by hard work, thirst for knowledge, and the desire to master their profession. All graduates, over the 20 years of ASICA's existence, work by profession, they are employed in music schools and music institutions of the republic. The whole republic knows about our institute, and they know that we have a wonderful staff of teachers and performers of folk instruments. Among them there are excellent performing musicians (bayanists, balalaika players, domrists), outstanding graduates.
The staff of the young department faced difficult creative tasks. Folk instrumental performance and the ever-expanding musical education system needed highly qualified teachers, performers, orchestra conductors, and band leaders. Since the first graduates, the Department of Folk Instruments of the Institute has been replenished with the most talented and actively trained students of the department.
The modern stage of the development of folk instrumental art is characterized by the presence of an extensive system of musical education. In this regard, the next stage in the development of our native institute will be the creation of a three-stage education (school, college and university). Teachers and students make a significant contribution to the development of our Department of Musical Art and the Institute.
The teachers of the department conduct creative work, conduct master classes, organize concerts and much more, which makes life at the department bright and intense.
Successful concert activities throughout the academic year enhance students' skills and creative activity, introducing a wide range of music lovers to the art.
Director Karl Lazarevich Serguchev and conductor Nikolai Vladimirovich Pikutsky work in the opera class and the opera studio.
Our students and graduates work as soloists and choir artists of the D.K.Sivtsev-Suorun Omolloon State Opera and Ballet Theater of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), perform on stage according to the theater's repertoire plan in solo parts and mass choral stages, as well as as artists of the Symphonic Choir Yakut State Philharmonic named after G.M.Krivoshapko, teachers of the Higher School of Economics, private music schools.
After graduation, graduates of the department continue their creative, performing and teaching activities at the YAGTOIB, YAGF, Variety Theater, Tuymaada Vocal Ensemble, the Children's Academy of Sciences of the Republic, and successfully tour at home and abroad.
