About Yakutsk

Yakutsk is a unique city that combines the traditions of the northern peoples and the dynamic development of a modern city. Here you will find not only educational opportunities, but also a rich cultural life and amazing nature that you will not find anywhere else.

Unique climate and nature

Yakutsk is surrounded by breathtaking landscapes — from winter snow expanses to endless summer forests and rivers. This is the perfect place to experience the northern romance: admire the Aurora borealis, ride a dog sled or go hiking in the picturesque surroundings. Among the natural treasures of the region are the Lena Pillars, unique rocks included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The city is also known for its harsh weather: temperatures can drop below -50°C in winter and reach +38°C in summer!

Cultural diversity

Yakutsk is a city with a rich heritage of indigenous peoples, where you can immerse yourself in a unique culture and get acquainted with the local language, traditions and customs. Every year, national holidays and festivals are held here, such as the Yakut New Year — Issyakh. This large-scale event attracts guests not only from all over Russia, but also from all over the world.

Urban architecture

Yakutsk, like many Russian cities, was once built entirely of wood. Some architectural monuments have survived to this day, and the destroyed buildings were recreated according to ancient drawings. Walking through the Old Town, you can see the reconstructed buildings — the tower of the Lena ostrog, the booth of the Yakut Steppe Duma and the wooden building of the diocese, which is a copy of the girls' gymnasium of 1882. However, genuine historical buildings have also been preserved in Yakutsk, including the building of the former Russian-Asian Bank and the house museum of the revolutionary Maxim Ammosov.

Modern infrastructure

Despite its remoteness, Yakutsk is a modern city with developed infrastructure: universities, libraries, sports complexes, cafes and cinemas. This is a city where you can live comfortably, get a high-quality education and have fun spending your free time.

Sport

Residents and guests of the city have at their disposal a modern ice palace, a stadium, a sports palace, as well as several sports complexes and other facilities. Yakutsk is also proud of the Zarya mini-football club, which consistently holds a leading position in the Major League. Since 2011, the Yakutia Football Club has reached the professional level and has become a participant in the second division of the Russian Football Championship.

The prospects

Yakutsk is actively developing, which opens up great opportunities for entrepreneurs. The region's economy is steadily growing, and business support from local authorities and federal programs helps create favorable conditions for investors. Projects in the field of IT, creative industries and innovative entrepreneurship are actively developing here.
