Life in Yakutsk

Yakutsk, like many Russian cities, was once built entirely of wood. Some architectural monuments have survived to this day, and the destroyed buildings were recreated according to ancient drawings. Walking through the Old Town, you can see the reconstructed buildings — the tower of the Lena ostrog, the booth of the Yakut Steppe Duma and the wooden building of the diocese, which is a copy of the girls' gymnasium of 1882. However, genuine historical buildings have also been preserved in Yakutsk, including the building of the former Russian-Asian Bank and the house museum of the revolutionary Maxim Ammosov.

Despite its remoteness, Yakutsk is a modern city with developed infrastructure: universities, libraries, sports complexes, cafes and cinemas. This is a city where you can live comfortably, get a high-quality education and have fun spending your free time.

Residents and guests of the city have at their disposal a modern ice palace, a stadium, a sports palace, as well as several sports complexes and other facilities. Yakutsk is also proud of the Zarya mini-football club, which consistently holds a leading position in the Major League. Since 2011, the Yakutia Football Club has reached the professional level and has become a participant in the second division of the Russian Football Championship.
