Creation of a Museum of Musical Instruments of the Peoples of North Asia at the Institute. The Yuri Sheikin Collection" was preceded by the long-term research and collecting activities of the famous Russian scientist, ethnomusicologist, Doctor of Art History, Professor of the Department of Art History Yuri Ilyich Sheikin. During his many years of scientific activity, Yu.I. Sheikin, who traveled with more than a hundred musical and ethnographic expeditions to different parts of Siberia and the Far East, collected a representative and in many ways unique collection of musical instruments and sound instruments used in the ritual, festive and daily practice of the peoples of Siberia.
One of the most important tasks of the university museum is to create a special scientific, educational and creatively oriented environment through the participation of students and teachers in the preservation and popularization of the intangible heritage of the region. The presentation of unique museum objects and artifacts is aimed at achieving scientific, educational and educational goals, the development of various forms of museum communication. The museum collection can be organically integrated not only into the educational process within the framework of the studied academic disciplines "Culture and Art of the peoples of the Arctic", "Musical culture of the peoples of Siberia", etc.), but also into existing regional educational museum programs on musical local history in the field of culture and art. The presence of such a museum in the university educational space makes it possible to make the educational process more visual, substantive and tangible, to fill it with specific musical and ethnographic content.
